Our story
ChaChaCha was founded by father and son team in 2024. Ishii Senior is a tea farmer, and has been continuing his family trade alongside a Japanese landscape gardening business. His son, Hirokazu Ishii, returned to his hometown of Shizuoka as the third generation of a tea farmer after a long-term international career as he realised that the industry he knew from his cherished childhood memories is on a path of steady decline.
Growing Together
Together they decided to join forces - combining Ishii Senior’s tea farming knowledge and gardening skills, with Hirokazu’s international business background - to breathe in new life into an industry and community that they are deeply connected to.
Through the founders’ longstanding community involvement and by rolling out a plan to acquire and continue to tend to tea fields from those who have retired, ChaChaCha is committed to keeping the tradition going. At the same time, we are opening up the tea experience beyond the traditional path of simply selling tea. Instead, we invite our customers to join in on the journey of harvesting our tea, spending time in our tea gardens, learning the many ways of using tea as an ingredient as well as a material.
We believe that if you are involved in the process and get to know the details of the craft, you learn to appreciate and love it as much as we do. In short, the world of tea is diverse and exciting, as it is beautiful and deep.
